Five.... + 2

As I mentioned in my earlier post I am the oldest of five children... well... plus two. For those of you who know our family you will know the five Staheli children. Me, the oldest at 19. Cache next in line at 17... almost :), Mauri 15, Jacob 13 and Brett 10 soon to be 11.
What most people don't know is that we have two little ones who are as much a part of the family as the rest of us who are no longer on the earth. Tommy as he is affectionately called was due to be born after I was, preceding Cache; and Suzy or Suzanne was due to come in between Jacob and Brett. My dad told me that when they were born they were hardly as big as his own hand. They only survived a few hours. I know that we as a family miss them but we have also come to find an immense happiness in each other as we know that one day we will be able to finally meet Tommy and Suzy in person and tell them that we love them.
As you can imagine, five kids each with very active lives are quite a handful for my mother. As for me... I have now moved out of the house and about every three months I go back home to burden my parents once more. ;) I am currently enrolled at BYU Idaho and am majoring in Music Education on the Violin. I love music and I love to write.
Cache is 16 soon to be 17 and has already become quite the lady's man. ;) He is involved in various activities from Cross country/ Track to being in the Show Choir at American Leadership Academy. He will graduate next spring and is planning on getting some schooling done at BYU before he heads off on a mission.
Mauri is now 15 going on 20. She has expressed to me on numerous occasions how much she longs to be out of the high school realm, drive her own car and live her own life. However she is enjoying school, and takes particular pride in being one of the smartest students in class. ;) She is getting 100% on tests and quizzes at every turn. Mauri also enjoys basketball and running. She has also started this school year playing on the ALA soccer team as a forward, which I might add, she is doing extremely well in for her first year. However, dear and close to her heart, is the basketball world. Nothing like driving down a basketball court dodging players and making a layup.
Jacob is now 13 and is currently enrolled in the eighth grade and quite popular at school. He is soon to be the newest quarterback on the ALA football team and gets all the attention from the girls seeing as no guy wants to take him on at his size. If I were a guy I would be very careful not to mess with Mauri. She might just sick her "little" brother on you. Jacob is currently playing on a Payson football team for Junior High; his team is doing quite well what with the size of some of the players that they have. Let's just say Jacob is not so towering anymore.
Brett the youngest of the Staheli clan is also currently playing football and enjoys it very much. Brett is currently a fifth grader and enjoys spending time with his friends. Especially his friend Holland. Brett is probably the most dedicated in helping mom out with refurbishing the house. He is also the next best person to care for our dog Tannen while I am away. :) Brett is loving and smiles all the time. He is our ray of sunshine and makes me laugh almost every day.
Well that is the latest on the Staheli clan. I bid you all adieu and good night.

Everybody wants to be a Staheli

My name is Kiara Staheli. I am 19 years old and the oldest of 5 children. My parents are Frank and Kara Staheli. My dad comes from southern Utah St. George area and a long line of Staheli's. My dad's ancestors came from a far away land known as Switzerland. Like many others they came to the home of the stars and stripes because they wanted freedom of religion, to be able to believe as they chose to believe.
It all started with my grandfather Johann George Staheli. Born in February of 1825 he was the first of his family to leave Switzerland and everything that he loved to join the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In 1861 he and his wife and their children crossed the Atlantic ocean to come to America, the land of opportunity.
As time went on more and more Staheli's were born. Generations passed until one day a baby boy was born. His name was Franklin H Staheli, my grandfather. He went on to marry a beautiful young woman Mary Esther Gardner Staheli. Together they had seven wonderful children. My dad, Franklin G Staheli was the oldest of these seven.
Now if you are wondering, this is not a blog dedicated to reminiscing about the Staheli legacy nor a history of our ancestors, although they are very important...
I went to my sister today with the proposition of starting a blog about our immediate family, the Franlin G Staheli family. She and I devised the title of this blog and I am going to do my best to keep everyone updated on the various happenings in the family; and then just maybe, you will start to see and understand why it's great to be a Staheli!
