Everybody wants to be a Staheli

My name is Kiara Staheli. I am 19 years old and the oldest of 5 children. My parents are Frank and Kara Staheli. My dad comes from southern Utah St. George area and a long line of Staheli's. My dad's ancestors came from a far away land known as Switzerland. Like many others they came to the home of the stars and stripes because they wanted freedom of religion, to be able to believe as they chose to believe.
It all started with my grandfather Johann George Staheli. Born in February of 1825 he was the first of his family to leave Switzerland and everything that he loved to join the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In 1861 he and his wife and their children crossed the Atlantic ocean to come to America, the land of opportunity.
As time went on more and more Staheli's were born. Generations passed until one day a baby boy was born. His name was Franklin H Staheli, my grandfather. He went on to marry a beautiful young woman Mary Esther Gardner Staheli. Together they had seven wonderful children. My dad, Franklin G Staheli was the oldest of these seven.
Now if you are wondering, this is not a blog dedicated to reminiscing about the Staheli legacy nor a history of our ancestors, although they are very important...
I went to my sister today with the proposition of starting a blog about our immediate family, the Franlin G Staheli family. She and I devised the title of this blog and I am going to do my best to keep everyone updated on the various happenings in the family; and then just maybe, you will start to see and understand why it's great to be a Staheli!
